Mesopotamia-Region

Picture
Mesopotamia is the area between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, in an area called "The Fertile Crescent." Some countries in The Fertile Crescent that exist today are Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Palestine, and many more. The region occupied by Ancient Mesopotamia was about 300 miles long and 150 miles wide. Though the region seems like a barren desert, the ground is actually fertile and good for growing crops, thanks to flooding of the Tigris and Euphrates. Thanks to these floods, a layer of silt built up under the soil.
However, the Mesopotamian region was not perfect. Unpredictable flooding, harsh climate and famines made the Mesopotamians feel victimized and helpless, which led to their strong beliefs in the gods.
