Mesopotamia translates to "the land between the rivers." This land was once inhabited by many ancient societies, including the Sumerians, the Akkadians, and the Babylonians. These civilizations were able to thrive and bloom in Mesopotamia, in 3 general areas: Akkad, Assyria, and Sumer.
